équipe vitesse to make GT Summer Series debut with Josef Klüber

équipe vitesse will compete in the second round of the 2026 GT Summer Series, entering a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for racing veteran Josef Klüber.

The équipe vitesse team is operated by the Herbst family, who have over 45 years of experience in the motorsport industry. The squad from Waldlaubersheim is a well-known commodity in the GEDLICH Racing paddock, having been regulars in both the GT Winter Series and Endless Summer trackday events. In their most recent GT Winter Series appearance, the team operated a Porsche 991.1 GT3 Cup, driven by GEDLICH Racing’s own Jann Jöge.

Beyond GEDLICH’s Iberian winter tour, équipe vitesse has a rich history of competition at the highest levels of domestic and international GT racing. Whether competing in NLS, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, International GT Open or GT Winter Series, the team is always a competitive force. In 2025, équipe vitesse claimed Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy title honours, in collaboration with reigning GT Winter Series champion Kenneth Heyer.

Josef Klüber has a vast GT racing resumé. Having taken on challenges such as 24-hour racing at the Nürburgring, Dubai and Barcelona, the German has experienced every high and low of motorsport. He had his first competitive race outing in 1999, aboard a VW Golf in the VLN (now NLS). Having been an encouraging force to the Herbst family during the creation of équipe vitesse, Klüber has collaborated with the team extensively since its formation.

As a driver that has piloted Mercedes-AMG customer racing products for over a decade, the 67-year-old will immediately be on-pace at Oschersleben.

The addition of équipe vitesse – alongside full-season commitments from numerous front-running teams – points to a thrilling second event in the GT Summer Series. The action will take place at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend, from 29-31 May.
