GEDLICH Racing announces capacity grid for 2027 F4 German Championship
GEDLICH Racing is delighted to reveal an impressive, international field of competing teams for the 2027 F4 German Championship certified by FIA.
Over 70 applications for the return of F4 racing to Germany
Applications totalling over 70 potential entries were registered, showcasing the desire for single-seater racing to return to Germany. A total of 14 teams have ultimately been selected, representing eight nations. Four of the teams are based in Germany itself, including new projects that will energise the motorsport industry marketplace.
14 teams from eight nations selected for the 2027 grid
Three teams on the grid have committed the maximum entry of four cars, two of which have previously competed in GEDLICH’s Iberia-based Formula Winter Series.
Van Amersfoort Racing will enter four cars into the F4 German Championship. The Dutch team is active at every level of FIA-certified junior single-seater competition, and will be keen to pick-up F4 Germany accolades from the start. VAR previously secured two titles in the German-based ADAC F4 Championship, in 2020 and 2021.
Mathilda Racing continues its rapid growth as an organisation, following its FWS debut in 2026. The German team will showcase a further-enhanced commitment to junior single-seater racing, entering four cars into the series. The squad will be overseen by experienced Nürburgring competitor Michael Paatz, the father of F1 Academy star Mathilda.
VANWALL F4 Racing is a newly-established proposition, benefitting from decades of experience and expertise in motorsport. The project will be fronted by Colin Kolles and Team Principal Trevor Carlin, and operate from the ByKOLLES base that oversees efforts in endurance racing and road-going hypercar development. Kolles’ rich history in the highest-levels of motorsport including F1 and DTM, along with Carlin’s single-seater expertise, will make this a formidable four-car programme in 2027.
Established names and ambitious new projects join the championship
LN4 Fusion, the team co-founded by 2025 Formula One World Champion Lando Norris, has expanded its 2027 plans to include entries in the F4 German Championship. Norris himself was previously an F4 race-winner in Germany, and the team bearing his brand will strive to begin its life with similar success.
Swiss-based FS Motorsports will enter the F4 German Championship as part of its first full season. The team, co-founded by experienced Brazilian motorsport promoter Mauricio Slaviero and racing superstar Augusto Farfus, are set to enter the FIA-certified F4 competition.
Formula Winter Series teams strengthen the F4 Germany grid
The crossover between GEDLICH Racing’s Formula Winter Series and the F4 Germany grid extends well beyond Van Amersfoort and Mathilda Racing.
Jenzer Motorsport will enter the inaugural F4 Germany season, having competed in each edition of the Formula Winter Series. Previously, the revered Swiss outfit entered seven seasons of the former ADAC F4 Championship.
A swarth of other teams familiar to the Formula Winter Series will also be present on the F4 Germany grid. STEP Motorsport, Renauer Motorsport, CRAM and AS Motorsport all competed in the 2026 FWS season, and will further enhance the competition level on 2027’s F4 Germany grid.
New teams from Germany and Belgium to take on the established ranks
Two new names to F4 will form part of the German contingent in the paddock.
Sportscar star Laurents Hörr will manage a multi-car effort from Dutt Motorsport. The team from Stuttgart is currently competing in its first-ever F4 season, and was quick to announce its intentions to enter F4 Germany. Meanwhile, the drive.solutions team is set to make its F4 debut within F4 Germany. The team is led by experienced racer Sascha Herz, and has extensive experience in preparing single-seaters for circuit and hillclimb competition.
Two Belgian teams will compete, both of which have previously focused on GT and Touring Car competition. Comtoyou Racing and PK Carsport will both add a fascinating new chapter to their respective histories, with new F4 projects.
Robin Selbach from GEDLICH Racing said: “The huge interest in our F4 German Championship is a vivid indicator of the region’s desire for junior single-seater competition. Enquiries totalling over 70 potential entries exceeded our internal expectations, and allowed us to curate a compelling list of participants for the first season. We are over six months from the first race start, and we’re already feeling immense anticipation!”
Seven events, five DTM weekends and €500,000 in Race For Gold prizes
The 2027 F4 German Championship will race across seven events, five of which will be held as part of the globally-renowned DTM race weekend package. A €500,000-value prize fund will be distributed via the Race For Gold initiative. As well as end-of-season awards for the overall champion, best rookie and best female competitor, additional prizes will be allocated during the championship.
A new pathway for the next generation of racing talent
Series promoter GEDLICH Racing is collaborating with the FIA and DMSB, to forge a new pathway for racing talent based in Germany and beyond. The inaugural F4 Germany season will begin at Oschersleben, from 07-09 May.
